Prosperity Law acquires Carrick Read

Prosperity Law has announced today its acquisition of Carrick Read, Leeds. Headed up by Andrew Laycock, Carrick Read has provided Insolvency Law advice, corporate and commercial legal services, commercial litigation services and volume debt recovery services for over 23 years.

This latest announcement by Prosperity Law follows the recent appointment of Mark Lockett as Chief Executive Officer, and the earlier appointment of five new partners to Prosperity Law as it continues its strong growth trajectory. The firm has also been recognised as one of the leading firms of solicitors in the North region, in The Legal 500, for their work in Commercial Litigation and Insolvency.

Ed Smethurst, Managing Partner at Prosperity Law said:
“Acquiring Carrick Read was a perfect opportunity for us. We have always respected the firm as a long-established and reputable practice with aligned values and business practices to our own.  Both companies have a strong reputation in the North West – we know the challenges and opportunities faced by the local market and this acquisition ensures we can continue to grow and offer great service and advice to all our clients.  We extend a very warm welcome to the new clients joining us, as well as the team at Carrick Read and look forward to a great future together.”

Andrew Laycock, Principal at Carrick Read said:
“The acquisition will enable us to provide a wider base of services than previously and also increase the geographical reach of the extended firm. It will also provide us with a greater depth of resources in ongoing work. We’ve chosen to join forces with Prosperity Law both because of their similar approach to client service but also a collegiate approach to the provision of legal services.”

All Carrick Read clients have been notified and will now have the benefit of access to a larger pool of expertise.

Prosperity Law has been on a journey of expansion, a significant step in the firm’s growth plans that has enhanced the firm’s capacity across a wide variety of service areas, with newly added expertise ranging from family law and private client services to dispute resolution and corporate healthcare litigation. The firm has offices in Manchester, Liverpool and London and prides itself on the quality and results the highly skilled solicitors provide; taking the time to understand clients’ needs and how best to achieve objectives.
